Leonardo Bonucci has completed a return to Juventus just one season after leaving Turin for rivals AC Milan.
The Italian defender’s move was part of the deal that saw Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain head the other way.
Juventus confirmed the signing on Thursday evening with a photo of Bonucci in Juventus jersey and the message: “Welcome back, Bonucci.”
The swap will also see 24-year-old defender Mattia Caldara join AC Milan.
In a short statement on their website, Juventus announced the arrival of the defender in Turin from Milan’s tour of the States on Thursday morning, before heading to the medical centre.
Bonucci’s return to the Italian Champions will see him reunite with Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini, who together formed the so-called ‘BBC’ defence, which proved to be one of Europe’s most formidable backline.
With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Emre Can and Bonucci now part of the Old Ladies, Juve fans are optimistic they will end their Champions League hoodoo in the upcoming campaign.
