Belgium has edged world champions France out from the top position to become the sole leader in the World FIFA rankings. This is following their tie at the top place last month. After this, they won one match and drew one match each. But, due to the ranking system, Belgium came out on top.
One of the two non-European sides in the top 10 is Brazil that remained behind the leaders at the third spot. The other non-European side is Uruguay. They dropped one position to sixth place behind England and Croatia.
England meanwhile rose to the fifth position by beating Spain 3-2 and drawing with Croatia. Croatia is the other World Cup finalist with France. Uruguay lost its position at the fifth spot when it lost South Korea and Japan. Madagascar have climbed into the top 100 for the first time since 2002. Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, and Denmark make up the 7th to 10th positions.
Argentina is in 12th place with 1573 points and Germany is in 14th with 1555 points. Table toppers Belgium has 1733 points and France is one point behind.
Meanwhile, there is the stunning news of a Rooney recall to the England side. He is to come out of retirement and play in the game against the USA on November 15. This will be his 120th cap. Many believe it will be of benefit while others do not consider this as something of value. He has captained England and is its record goal scorer having scored more goals than Gary Lineker or Bobby Charlton.
