Barcelona completed another record deal with signing 20-years-old Borussia player Ousmane Dembele. It is the second most expensive contract of all-time after Neymar. Barca chiefs spend for new attacker initial £96.8m, potentially rising to £135.5m.
Ousmane has signed his new five-year contract on Monday alongside with president Josep Bartomeu. The release clause in Dembele’s contract is £400m.
New Barca player also shared: “I’m very happy to be here. I always dreamed to play for Barcelona and now I’m here in the best club in the world with the best players in the world”.
Barcelona tried to sign Dembele since the beginning of August, but Dortmund rejected the offer. And they managed to race price for 40% up to £135m.
This is officially record signing for the club. Their last expensive deal was signing Luis Suarez for £75m in 2014. Still, Bartomeu said that cost of signing Neymar in 2013 was over 100m despite the official numbers (£48.6m).
Dembele scored 10 times and provided 21 assists. Borussia finished third in Bundesliga and Reached Champions League quarter-finals. Ousmane has shown really good performance and was voted as the best young player of the 2015/16. Still, the transfer fee is really astonishing.
