Azpilicueta has said sorry to the supporters of Chelsea after they suffered a humiliating defeat in the hands of Manchester City by 6–0. He called it the lowest point of his professional career.
The team of Maurizio Sarri had crashed the most disgracing loss in the year 1991 as the champions of the Premier League had run a riot on Sunday at Etihad Stadium. This heavy defeat made the team slip below Arsenal and is in the 6th position in the table in regards to the goals scored. It has raised further questions about the future of Sarri. Azpilicueta has stated that it is difficult to express his feeling in words after the game. He had been given a torrid time after Raheem Sterling, the two-goal winger from Manchester City. He says that it has been one of the worst nights in his career and it is really frustrating. He goes on to comment that, “when a team loses 6–0, people will have to accept that they didn’t really play well”. He apologizes to the fans because it isn’t acceptable and he feels sorry for every one of them. Sergio Aguero had hit a quick-fire double and had been followed by the early strike of Sterling. Ilkay Gundogan made it to 4–0 in the middle of the second half. Aguero was done with his hat-trick along with the penalty in the second half prior to Sterling scoring once again for completing the rout.
