Australia have played one final of this competition in the year of 2011. They were the runner-ups of 2011 AFC Asian Cup competition. On the other hand, Kuwait have won this championship in 1980 and were runner-ups of 1976.

In last World Cup, Australia finished at thirtieth position as they were eliminated in group stage round of the competition. It was fourth qualification of Socceroos in World’s biggest football competition.
