Atletico Madrid player Thomas Partey is keen to join Arsenal this summer, but his enormous release clause has prevented the Gunners from signing a transfer deal right now. Although the 27-year-old footballer seems to be Arteta’s main target, the Premier League club have struggled in their talks with the LaLiga side so far. Despite the problems, Arsenal still seePartey as the ideal addition for the club.
Arsenal have already signed Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes this transfer window, but Arteta needs more strong players in his team. Therefore, he wants to strengthen his ranks with Partey. Arsenal had offered £22.7 million for Partey earlier this year, but the Spanish club rejected the bid. The La Liga side won’t let the Ghanaian international leave for anything less than £45 million.
Whether the Colchoneros will accept a lower offer from the Gunners with a replacement being eyed remains to be seen though.
