A narrow 1-0 victory against Uruguay put Argentina at top spot in the South American World Qualifiers. The return hero Lionel Messi scored the only goal of the fixture as he went through the entire 90 minutes carrying a hamstring injury. Now it is confirmed that he will miss this away game against Venezuela. Head coach Edgardo Bauza would be delighted to begin his career with Albiceleste with a victory. But he will be without a trio of clinical forwards, namely Paulo Dybala who was sent off in the match against Uruguay, Sergio Aguero who is injured and Gonzalo Higuain who is not called up due to lack of fitness.

Meanwhile, Venezuela are at the rock bottom of the qualification standings after the 2-0 loss at Colombia on Thursday. They have suffered 6 losses and didn’t win a single game so far. With 1 point from 7 matches, the chances to make it inside the desired top five are almost over.

Venezuela Vs Argentina: Head-to-Head Stats

The last time both teams met was in the last 8 of Copa America in the summer with Argentina winning 4-1. Venezuela won 1-0 the last time they hosted Argentina in a World Cup qualifier.
