Jose Pekerman remains as the head-coach after their tolerable success in the Copa America Centenario 2016 in USA. The Los Cafeteros were thrashed by the future champions Chile in the semi-final and a win against USA guaranteed them a third placed finish. Now Colombia occupy fifth and the final qualifications spot with 10 points from their six matches so far. They won 3, lost 2 and drawn 1 during the period. And it will an interesting battle as Brazil and Paraguay are chasing them at a one point gap. Colombia have a couple of injured defenders Cristián Zapata and Felipe Aguilar, while their main superstar James Rodríguez will skipper the team.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan boss Rafael Dudamel has been given a green light as his side had shown some positives during the Copa America Centenario competition in the USA. They reached the quarter finals of the Copa America unbeaten with wins against Jamaica and Uruguay and a draw against Mexico. They ultimately bow out of the tournament after a tough 4-1 loss to Argentina. But now, Venezuela are clear outsider in the qualification standings with just 1 point from their six fixtures so far. They are on a terrible run right now and yet to win a game having lost five out of six during the period.

Colombia Vs Venezuela: Head-to-Head Stats

Two teams last meeting was in the group stage of Copa America 2015 with Venezuela surprising 1-0 winners. Colombia have won 3 of their last 5 home World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela but could only draw 1-1 in the most recent of those matches.
