Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas should have done better with the first as he allowed Tiago’s 18 yard strike squirm under his body, but he could do nothing about the second. There was no single shot on target by Los Blancos in the first 45 minutes against Atleti. Coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to replace Sami Khedira with Jese Rodriguez. Cristiano Ronaldo who returned after two man bans was failed to score even a single goal. He contributed nothing to getting his side back into the match. Ronaldo and Bale did nothing except receiving boos. During the first half, Koke got injured. The power, running and technical ability the midfielder provides would all have been big losses — but Saul Niguez came on and brought Atletico all of that and more. The bicycle kick from Saul provided 2–0 lead for Atletico Madrid. It was probably the best goal in this season of the La Liga.
